Shimla the capital and the largest city of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. In 1864, Shimla was declared as the summer capital of British India. It is a home to several buildings that are styled in the Tudorbethan and neo-Gothic architectures dating from the colonial era. This place also has multiple temples and churches.

The Ridge
It is a wide-open street that runs along the Mall Road from east to west and connects it to the famous Scandal Point. It is popular destination for the gorgeous views of the snow-capped mountain ranges. It is usually the venue for all such celebrations and events.

Jakhoo Hill and Temple
It is covered in blanket of alpine trees and offers scenic views of the snow-covered Shivalik Ranges as well as the sister town of Sanjauli . One of the famous sightseeing places in Shimla, it has the world’s largest statue of God Hanuman, attracting tourist of all ages apart from the Hindu community.

Mall Road
This place is mainly for couples. It is the most happening location in this hill station and attracts visitors of all ages. With a plethora of cafes, restaurants, showrooms, departmental stores, and shops selling trinkets and exclusive handicraft works.

Christ Church
Christ Church is the second oldest church in North India. If you’re looking to spend some time amid peace and spirituality, then this the right place to spend. With its Neo-Gothic style of architecture, the Christ Church redefines the beauty in its own unique way.

Kali Bari Temple
Kali Bari Temple, boasting an excellent hill top location, with a panoramic view of the mountain ranges and lush-green forests, offers a divine atmosphere.
This temple is mainly drawn for its architectural beauty.

 Himachal State Museum
Himachal State Museum Shimla is placed in an old Victorian mansion 'Inverarm' which was carefully altered to adapt it to the museum. It is built in a unique Victorian-era style with sprawling lawns all around the area.

Kalka Rail
The Kalka-Shimla train ride is a highpoint of Shimla tourism and for a good reason. Winding through the extremely scenic and mountainous route from the foothill of Haryana to Shimla, the train ride offers spectacular views of the surrounding hills and villages.

Tara Devi Temple
It is a 250 years old temple built on the hill and shrine gives a blissful feel.

Happening time

Shimla is not a great place for nightlife yet, it still has its own fun at night. On general, shops, restaurants will be closed after 8 PM and might be difficult to get food and other sort of things. Shimla is good to see in the early morning and after the sunrise.

Best time to visit

Summer time

It is march to June where the temperature is 15 degree to 30 degree. Over the Summer, Shimla is slowly warmed by the sun’s rays. The heat is moderate and the weather is pleasant. Shimla in summers is picture-perfect. The sun and flowers are out in full bloom, the weather is clear, and the hill station is open to exploring. 

Monsoon
The july to September during 10 to 20 degree is heavy cold and have heavy and continuous rain fall and not advisable for tourist to visit. Heavy rainfall makes Shimla prone to landslides.

Winter
During November to January whether the degree is 4 to 25 degrees. This time is magical. Early winter in Shimla is a great time to explore the hill station and its various tourist attractions. Winter is the time to go shopping, explore the surrounding natural landscapes.

How to reach
By Air
The nearest airport from Shimla is Chandigarh Airport situated at a distance of about 120 kms from Shimla. The journey from Chandigarh to Shimla can be taken by road.

By Rail
Shimla is connected to Kalka on Meter Gauge and it takes around 6 Hrs from KALKA to reach SHIMLA. There are 3-4 trains daily from Kalka to Shimla and vice-versa.

By Road
Delhi to Shimla through Karnal highway. This is one of the Delhi to Shimla best routes by road, and also the shortest, through which you can reach Shimla from Delhi.
